Helga Þóra Björgvinsdóttir
Helga Þóra Björgvinsdóttir, violinist, earned her Bachelor-degree in 2004 from Iceland University of the Arts, under the tutelage of Guðný Guðmundsdóttir and Auður Hafsteinsdóttir. In 2007 she earned her Diploma from the Universitat der Künste in Berlin, where she studied solo violin with Isabelle Faust and chamber music playing with the Artemis Quartet. She finished her Masters-degree in 2013 from the Royal Academy of Music in Brussels, where she studied under the tutelage of Kati Sebestyen.
Helga Þóra has taken part in seminars and courses in Italy, France and Germny and has studied with e.g. Donald Weilerstein, Boris Garlitsky, Laurent Korcia, Stephen Clapp, Almitu Vamos, Suzanne Gessner and Svetlin Roussev.
As a soloist Helga Þóra has performed with Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Iceland Youth Symphony and Skark String Ensemble. She has been a member of Iceland Symphony Orchestra from 2015 and is a member of Siggi Stirng Quartet, Elektra Ensemble and Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra, as well as teaching at the College of Music.
