Vox feminae female choir was founded in 1993 by Margréti J. Pálmadóttir who also was the choir conductor until 2018 – until Hrafnhildur Árnadóttir Hafstað took over the assignment. The choir has mainly focused on sacred music as well as Icelandic folk songs and contemporary music and has premiered several works by contemporary Icelandic composers.
Vox Feminae took part in the Vatican's International Choir Competition in 2000 end was awarded the silver-prize.
The choir regularly gives independent concerts but also collaborates with singers, other choirs and orchestras. Vox Feminae has performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, notably Gustav Holst's The Planets and Mahler's Third .
Vox Feminae has released three CD-s with both Icelandic folk songs and sacred works: Mamma geymir gullin þín, Himnadrottning (Regina Coeli) og Ave Maria.
